Third Segment is a new work for 3EEM.
...three men, from a land of hills, wine and some fog.
We met 3EEM when we've started Chew-Z (they were into First Aid Kit compilation), then we've shared music experience and now they present to us: Third Segment. It could be considered their third work, after the two albums on Small Voices and on White Label Music.
We like the essence of their sound: it could be the soundsystem for a tour around the solar system... and Chew-Z is the captain !
Composed and recorded between the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, Third Segment emphasize even more on the basic idea of 3eem: electronic rhythmic structures, alteration of sound sources, textures of saxophone and guitar between minimal riffs and short glimpses into improvisation, a sort of tribal rite making its way, overlapping between the certainty of live sound and its deviated interpretation.

Ennesimo colpaccio per Chew-Z, che si accaparra una tra le release più interessanti del panorama Net Label italiano del 2009: l'ottimo"Third Segment" del trio nostrano 3EEM.
Come al solito l'etichetta torinese non si accontenta di sonorità troppo scontate e ci propone cinque interessantissimi brani a cavallo tra minimalismo, glitch, musica elettronica e sperimentazione fine a se stessa in cui un sassofono che richiama gli Zu e le ritmiche spesso tribali che spesso lo accompagnano sono gli elementi che riscuotono il maggior consenso, contribuendo in maniera direi indispensabile al raggiungimento di quello che possiamo dire essere il mood caratteristico dell'intero progetto.
Un album capace di rilassare per poi provocare improvvisi attacchi di panico; un progetto che ti piacerebbe ascoltare dal vivo, allo stesso modo che come colonna sonora del tuo film preferito; un ottimo lavoro.

3EEM is an instrumental trio born in 2003 around the idea to combine electric guitars and tenor sax with electronic beats and real time sampling. The textures of 3eem arise from layered structures producing a driving, psychedelic framework in which traditional instrumentation and techniques of digital processing have intertwingled. Airy guitars and melodic tenor sax lines and manic, nervous free blowing, drawing hypnotic sounds mashed up with electronic noise and static white-outs meandering through landscapes of different shadings. Stylistically 3eem doesn’t follow genders or stereotypes of any type.
